"Katrina!" My friend called me from where he was standing underneath the bare black tree in the moonlight. "What?" I asked as I fixed my pirate costume to tighten eyepatch strap . "Look up there!" He indicated with his finger to an old mansion just a few yards away from where we were. "Lets go there!" He said with a smile.
It was halloween and me and my friend Cole went trick or treating. We went to every house avoiding the ones that wouldn't really give us much, and since it was still pretty early and we ddn't have to really go back to my house untill around 12 we decided to walk around a bit. We got to the mansion, it was pretty old with holes in the roof and broken windows.There was a metal fence that looked rusted in front of us that was opened like it was waiting for someone to come back.
"Wow," Cole said in amazement as he ran up the front steps to the huge door, "Its like a haunted mansion!" I stood just looking at the mansion with wonder. Something wasn't right though I felt jumpy for some reason like somthing was going to pop out and attack us. *creak* I snapped my attention back to Cole and saw that he opened the door and was now looking inside.
"What are you doing?!" I said as I ran over to him. "Look its open." He said as he continued looking inside. "I know that stupid!" I said annoyed. "What I want to know is what possessed you to open the door!" Cole looked at me and smiled. "Hey, want to see if there any ghosts in here?"
I looked at Cole for a moment and then into the blackness of the mansion. "N-Not really." I said getting that feeling again. "Huh?" Cole said with a questioning look. "Thought you were into this kind of thing?" "Well I'm not, okay." I said as I turned away from the entrance and started to walk down the stairs when I heard Cole gasp. I turned and saw Cole being grabed not by an arm but like the darkness itself!
Cole turned his head and I could see fear envolope his face as the darkness pulled him into the mansion. Once Cole got swallowed in the darkness another arm came out and made a grab for me. My legs were moving before my mind did and I found my self running for the fence. The hand grabed my ankle just as I got to the fence and made me fall. I screamed and started to kick the hand but it didn't work, my kicks just went through it. I started to grab for the fence trying to hold onto the bars, but that proved too to be useless.
The hand started to pull me into the mansion and the last thought I had before I was swallowed was "No!" "Somebody help us!" I looked quickly up at the full moon as it glowed. I'm sure it was mocking our demise.

I hope its not too long. This is my first time writing a horror story but I thought that maybe I should at least try something new, you know? Anyway my character Katrina and her friend Cole go trick or treating and end up at an old mansion. What they don't know is that there is something strange about the mansion. I hope you like it! ^^

I just remembered that Katrina is the same name we were gonna use for that other story!!
